Don't pension off human rights

Today is the 60th anniversary of the declaration of human rights. There will be celebrations in Geneva, I shall be lighting an Amnesty International candle, the World YMCA and YWCA focused their week of prayer on human rights earlier this year. Much international campaigning - from the right to water, to the impact of climate change, to women's rights, to religious freedom - focuses on a human rights approach.
So on this anniversary day it's not time to pension off human rights but rather to get states, governments and individuals to respect the human rights of their fellow women and men the world over.
